2015 Lake Chelan Wine Bike Ride

Friday September 18 through Sunday September 20

Join us for the Tour de Wineries on the north side of the Lake Chelan AKA wine region.   Early fall is a great time to visit Chelan; most hotels will be charging low season rates for this weekend, and the weather should be sunny with moderate temperatures – perfect for biking.   You should plan on arriving Friday night – Chelan is about a 3 ½ hour road trip from Seattle.

Saturday morning, we’ll bike around the north side of the Lake Chelan starting from the Benson Winery, and ending at the Lake Chelan Winery.  Between Benson and Lake Chelan Wineries there’ll be several wineries and wine tasting rooms.   The ride is about 10 miles long and has a few hills, including a nasty gravel road.  For this we rate the ride as blue.  We’ll ferry folks up and down the gravel road as necessary.  Maps and a sag wagon will be provided.  We keep a social pace and will pick up anyone who is tired, injured or a little tipsy. This year, I will lead the group and Gary will drive the sag wagon.  We use cell phones to keep in touch, have already selected a place for lunch and a place to pick up wine purchases to distribute at the end of the day.

Sunday, you can choose mountain biking at the Echo Ridge, bike between the south side wineries, golf, etc. or simply take-in the beautiful Lake Chelan area.

We will also plan a place for dinner Saturday night, a meeting place Friday evening and breakfast Sunday morning.  More information will be provided as the group firms up.

You are responsible for your own accommodations.  You can camp at several sites around Chelan and Manson, or stay at one of several top rated hotels.   The Mountain View Lodge is a very good medium priced motel in Manson; we recommend you make reservations with them.

Please register for the ride on the S’no Joke home page.  For questions, email Gary Mansell at snoskier@comcast.net  or Ginger Keel at alliekeel@comcast.net
